Wayne C. Perkins, 79, of Dolgeville, New York passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York. At the time of his passing, he had the love of his wife, sons and family by his side.
He was born on August 12, 1946 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Wayne and Leta (Lamphere) Perkins. He attended Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1965.
Shortly after graduation, Wayne enlisted in the United States Army on October 21, 1966 and served in the Vietnam War Era. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device and his Marksman Badge. He was honorably discharged on July 17, 1969.
On May 20, 1967, Wayne was united in marriage to Julia Maniacek in Little Falls, New York. The couple shared nearly 59 years of marriage and raised their five sons in a loving home.
Wayne was a long-time farmer who owned and operated Wayne C. Perkins & Sons Farm on Barker Road in Dolgeville, New York and worked alongside his family.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Little Falls in which his faith was very important. In addition to spending his entire life farming, Wayne enjoyed riding his side by side with his dog around the property looking at deer and all the nature the land offered. He liked to take his wife out to dinner and have nice family dinners as well. His most important time was spent in the company of his large and loving family who will miss him dearly.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Julia at home; his sons and their wives, Wayne Perkins and his wife, Gretchen of Little Falls, NY, Todd Perkins and his wife, Rebecca of Little Falls, NY, Joseph Perkins and his wife, Teresa of North Myrtle Beach, SC, Ryan Perkins and wife, Jennifer of Herkimer, NY, and John Perkins and his wife, Melanie of Dolgeville, NY; grandchildren, Peretz, Kendyl and her husband Yoseph, Andrew and his wife Emily, Samuel and his wife Breanna, Alex, Austin and his wife Miranda, Paige, Tyler, Olivia, Joseph and his wife Jasmine, and Julia; great-grandchildren, Shoshana, Yehudis, Rachel, Emunah, Brayden, Drew, Josie, Madelyn, Avenlynn and Lucas; sister, Patricia Fariel and her husband, Joseph of Sneads Ferry, NC, brother, Larry Perkins and his wife, Judy of OH, and sister, Darlene and her husband, Larry Chergosky of NC; in-laws, Joanne Jantosciak of Richfield Springs, NY, Barbara Gillen of Dolgeville, NY, and Paul and June Maniacek of Glens Falls, NY; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 555 Albany Street, Little Falls, New York 13365. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. with Pastor Chris Wintermute officiating. Procession will follow to Rural Park Cemetery in Inghams Mills, New York where he will be laid to rest. Members of the United States Army Honor Guard will accord their funeral honors at the cemetery.
A reception will be held immediately following the burial service for family and friends at the Mohawk Valley Christian Academy, 156 West Monroe Street, Little Falls, New York 13365. All are welcome to attend.
