Walter E. Pfeifer, 79, of the Town of Salisbury, New York and a native of Hayward, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully Monday morning, October 21, 2019, in the comfort of his own home.
He was born on January 28, 1940 in Hayward, Wisconsin and was the son of the late, Oscar and Lucille (Poppe) Pfeifer. Walter was educated at Blair Grade School and then went on to attend Hayward High school where he graduated with the Class of 1958.
At one time, Walter was married to the former Gloria Simmons, the mother of his three children, Jeffrey, David and Laurie.
Walter was the owner and operator of Pfeifer Trucking in Hayward, Wisconsin as a lumberjack for many years.
He was a member of the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed hunting in his younger years in Wisconsin and Montana.
Walter is survived by his beloved sons, Jeffery Pfeifer and his wife, Beck of Hayward, WI and David Pfeifer of Aurora, IL; two brothers, William Pfiefer and his wife, Jane of Mesquite, NV and John Pfeifer and his wife, Joyce of Redbluff, CA; three sisters, Luella Wendt of Blythewood, SC, Charlotte Robotham and her husband, Jim of Dolgeville, NY and Machele Pfeifer of Iowa City, IA; a special granddaughter, Ashley (Daniels) Kaczynski and her husband, Rich of Chicago, IL; companion, Chris Bowers of the Town of Salisbury, NY; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Laurie (Pfeifer) Daniels and his siblings, Carl Pfeifer, Paul Pfeifer, and Yvonne McGuire.
There will be no local funeral services. A graveside service will be held in the summer of 2020 in Seeley Cemetery, Seeley, Wisconsin where he will be laid to rest with his family. Walter is being cared for by Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329 (315) 429-7123.
