Vivian M. (Pierce) Bogerd, 92, of Dolgeville, New York, passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, December 27, 2020, at Little Falls Hospital in Little Falls, New York .
She was born on August 2, 1928 in Little Falls, New York and was the daughter of the late, Ross and Sophia (Rumrill) Pierce. Vivian was educated at Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1946 as valedictorian. She furthered her studies at Albany Business School where she completed a two year secretarial program.
On March 18, 1950, Vivian was united in marriage to Harold R. Bogerd and shared a union of 60 years until he passed away on May 30, 2010.
Vivian was formerly employed as a bookkeeper for Griffith Fuel in Dolgeville, New York and a homemaker where she raised her four children in a loving home in Silver Creek, New York.
While living in Silver Creek, Vivian was a member of the Home Bureau, was a Sunday school teacher at their local Methodist Church, and was a 4 -H leader. When she moved back to the Dolgeville area, she volunteered her time at the Dolgeville Area Food Pantry, was a member of the Salisbury United Methodist Church, and volunteered at the Herkimer Home. She won a book keeping and secretarial award while volunteering at the Food Pantry. In her spare time she enjoyed crafting, reading, knitting, baking, making jewelry and she loved her cats, especially Al. She will be dearly missed by her family.
She is survived by her beloved children, Cynthia Bogerd of Dolgeville, NY, Suzanne Stone and her husband, Michael of Dolgeville, NY, Hal Bogerd and his wife, Anne of Durham, NC; and Laurie Rosenburgh and her husband, Ed of Barneveld, NY; six loving grandchildren, Brenton Recht and his wife, Jennifer of Whitesboro, NY, Eddy Rosenburgh of Utica, NY, Kira Stone-Benenati and her husband, Brandon Benenati of Little Falls, NY, Harrison Rosenburgh of Cortland, NY, Jacob Bogerd of Durham, NC and Emma Bogerd of Raleigh, NC; cherished great-grandson, Jude Stone-Benenati of Little Falls, NY; a brother, Gary Pierce and his wife, Marilynn of Little Falls, NY ; and a special friend, Clara "Susie" Jorrey of Salisbury, NY.
Vivian was predeceased by her brother, Robert Pierce, Sr.
A memorial service for Vivian and her late husband, Harold, will be held at a future date. The family is being cared for by Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street , Dolgeville , New York 13329 , (315) 429-7123.
