Vincent J. Rizzo Obituary

Vincent J. Rizzo, 78, of Herkimer, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, April 1, 2025 at Foltsbrook Center in Herkimer, New York with his loving family by his side.

He was born on May 7, 1946 in Erie Lackawanna (Buffalo), New York and was the son of the late, James and Lucy (Cannarelli) Rizzo. Vincent was educated at Proctor High School and graduated with the Class of 1964. He then went on to attend Mohawk Valley Community College.

On May 19, 1973, Vincent was united in marriage to the former Terry L. Matteson in New Hartford, New York. The couple shared nearly 52 years together.

Vincent owned and operated a second-hand shop called Big Boys in Herkimer, New York and was open for 25 years until his retirement.

In his spare time, Vincent enjoyed hunting, fishing, taxidermy which he collected, buying and selling items, playing cards and spending time at the family camp at Pine Lake. His most precious time was spent in the company of his family.

Vincent is survived by his wife, Terry L. Rizzo at home; his sons, James Rizzo and his wife, Heather; step-son, Steven Barriger and his fiancé, KenniLee Newkirk; two grandsons, Vincent Rizzo of Cohoes, NY and Andrew Barriger and his companion, Brittney Alfano of Frankfort, NY; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Renae Rizzo and his sister, Anita Rizzo.
