Terry V. Giarrusso, Sr., 76, of Dolgeville, New York, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
He was born on March 12, 1947, in Little Falls, New York, and was the son of the late, Frank and Loretta “Billie” (Jones) Giarrusso. Terry was educated at Little Falls High School.
On June 4, 1966, Terry was united in marriage to Shirley M. Guile at St. Joseph’s Church in Little Falls, New York. The couple shared a blessed union of 57 years where they raised their three children in a loving home.
Terry was formerly employed by Salada Foods in Little Falls, New York as a production machine mechanic. He retired in 2001 after 28 years of dedicated service to the company. In his younger years, Terry worked at Snyder’s Bicycle Shop was a bartender for his parent’s restaurant called the Lock Tavern, both in Little Falls.
He was an active member of the Salisbury Ridgerunners Snowmobile Club, the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club, the Owl Club and a former member of Hilltop Fire Department. He was also a volunteer member and driver of the Dolgeville Volunteer Ambulance Corps (DVAC) when it was in operation.
Terry enjoyed grooming the snowmobile trails for Ridgerunners, hunting, camping with his camp friends and working on cars and in particular his 1965 Nova. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, Terry will be dearly missed by his family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley M. Giarrusso at home; his loving children, Dale Giarrusso and his companion, Heather, Dawn Howe and her husband, Dante, and Terry Giarrusso all of Dolgeville, NY; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Lynn Guile of Dolgeville; a sister-in-law, Dianne Giarrusso of Little Falls, NY; twelve cherished grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Terry was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Donald Giarrusso, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie and Sarah Jane Guile and a sister-in-law, Pammy Guile.
Calling hours will be held tomorrow, Friday, June 22, 2023 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York. A funeral service will immediately follow the calling hours at 3 p.m. also at the funeral home officiated by Todd Perkins.
