Sharon A. Barnes, 70, of Dolgeville, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, May 23, 2024 at Little Falls Hospital with her loving children by her side.
She was born on February 28, 1954 in Little Falls, New York and was the daughter of the late, Harry and Dorothy (Congdon) Walrath. Sharon attended local schools.
On February 20, 1970, Sharon was united in marriage to David A. Barnes at the Assembly of God Church in Salisbury, New York. They shared a loving union of 47 years when David passed away on September 20, 2017.
In younger years, Sharon worked at Daniel Green Shoe Company in Dolgeville, New York and then was a caring homemaker for her husband, children and grandchildren.
Sharon loved to listen to music and spending time with her cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her children, Tina Rumrill and her husband, Brian of Dolgeville, NY, Stephanie Martin and her husband, Bruce of Red Hook, NY, Scott Barnes and David Barnes, both of Dolgeville, NY; her grandchildren, Kayla (Rumrill) Snyder and her husband, Alex, Brian Rumrill and his companion, Makayla all of Dolgeville, NY and Lindsey Martin and Ian Martin, both of Red Hook, NY; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Snyder and Lucas Rumrill; several sisters-in-law; friends and special neighbors.
Sharon was predeceased by her husband, David A. Barnes; brothers, Everett Walrath, Allen Walrath, and Gene Walrath; and a sister, Wava Ropeter.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the locally owned and family operated, Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York, Cremations and Funerals. A funeral service will be held immediately following the calling hours at 1 p.m. also at the funeral home. Procession will follow to Curtis Cemetery in Salisbury, New York where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
