Dolgeville
Mr. Russell H. Gressler, 87, of 377 Carlson Road Dolgeville, a resident of Valley Health Services, in Herkimer, died Wednesday June 27, 2018, where he had been a resident since July of 2016.
He was born in Little Falls, on March 3rd, 1931, the son of the late Arthur and Edna (Hall) Gressler and was educated in Dolgeville Schools.
His marriage to the former Joan R. Dunderdale took place on June 20, 1954 in Utica, New York. Mrs. Gressler predeceased him on October 7, 1997Russell and his wife Joan owned and operated a farm on the Peckville Road, Town of Manheim from 1959 until they retired in 1996. While farming Russell served on the Board of Directors for the Dolgeville Area Producers Co-Op, as its President.
A true family man he truly enjoyed his home, along with taking walks in the woods and teaching his grandchildren, the wonders of nature. He loved to fish and hunt, and was an avid reader, especially of Westerns.
He is survived by his children, a son Russell “Rusty” Gressler of Little Falls, his daughters Deborah Marucci of Little Falls, Mary Gressler of Dolgeville, Jane and her husband Mike Jorrey of Salisbury, and Julie and her husband Evan Castor of Dolgeville, his grandchildren Sara, Arianna, Vanessa, Collin, Kyle, David, Adam, McKensey and Owen, his great grandchildren Jackson, Ronan and James, a brother in law Louis Dunderdale, nieces and nephews and his canine companion “Benny”. He was predeceased by a brother Kenneth Gressler on April 7, 2017.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, in Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham’s Mills. There are NO Calling hours.
It is suggested that memorials may be sent to Valley Health Services Development Fund, 690 W. German Street Herkimer, NY 13350 in his memory.
