Rosalie A. Saracino Obituary

Rosalie A. Saracino, 83, of Dolgeville New York passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning May 3, 2023 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, New York with her grandson by her side, after a valiant battle with Lymphoma.

She was born on May 22, 1939 in Little Falls, New York, to Dorothy (Wall) and John Atkinson.

On January 22, 1956, Rosalie was united in marriage to Joseph S. Saracino in St. Johnsville, New York. They shared a loving marriage of 38 years, when he passed away on August 17, 1994.

Rosalie was employed with the Daniel Green Shoe Company for 31 years until their closing in 1999. Throughout the years, Rosalie provided elder care and housekeeping services to many village residents as well. Her strong work ethic and loyalty were displayed in almost everything she did.

In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who meant the world to her. Rosalie loved being outdoors tending to her flower beds and gardens during the summer. She was an avid reader of cookbooks, enjoyed doing crosswords, and had a great love for animals. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life like taking a drive to see the Autumn colors, visiting with friends, and loved cooking for her family, especially during the holidays.

Rosalie was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, always putting everyone else's needs before her own. She will be deeply missed by her loving family.

She is survived by her sons, Joseph Saracino and his companion, Roberta of Mohawk, NY and James Saracino and his wife Gail of Mayfield, NY; two very special grandchildren, Michael Saracino and Amanda Saracino, both of Dolgeville, NY.

Rosalie was predeceased by her parents, Dorothy and John; and a stepdaughter, JoAnne Bailey.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday afternoon, May 7, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York. A funeral service will immediately follow calling hours at 2 p.m. also at the funeral home, with Pastor Matt Worley officiating. A graveside service will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 10:30 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dolgeville, NY where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Joseph.

A special thank you to Michael and Amanda Saracino for the care they provided for the past several years. Their dedicated and tireless efforts made it possible for her to accomplish her one wish at the end of life which was to be able to remain in the comfort of her home as long as possible.

The family would also like to thank the staff at Dolgeville Primary Care, Little Falls Hospital, and the 2nd floor staff at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown for their efforts, a very special friend Brenda Naizby, her healthcare provider Christine Altman who she thought very highly of, and everyone who has reached out over the past several months in supporting her and her family. We truly appreciate everything.

A memorial fund will be set up in her honor which will be announced in the future.
