Ronald V. Lasowski Obituary

Ronald Vincent Lasowski, 75, of Dolgeville, New York passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at Wynn Hospital in Utica, New York, after suffering a major stroke at his home on Wednesday. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by the love of his family by his side.

He was born on November 6, 1948 in Herkimer, New York and was the son of the late, Joseph and Jennie (Bober) Lasowski. Ron attended Herkimer High School and graduated with the Class of 1966. During high school, he worked with his family at the Mohawk Valley Bottling Works, which his parents owned. He continued his education at Mohawk Valley Community College and later earned a Bachelor’s degree in teaching from the State University of New York at Albany.

On July 19, 1975, Ronald was united in marriage to Bonnie J. Prentice at St. Anthony’s of Padua Catholic Church in Chadwicks, New York. They were blessed with two children, Brian and Kristin. This July they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Ron served his country in the United States Army and then the Army Reserves. He was in the Army as a training standards officer where he received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service for the 8th Medical Brigade, a medic in the reserves, and eventually retiring as a Major in 1994 after 24 years of service.

Ronald worked at Dolgeville Central School for 40 years where he taught Reading, Social Studies, and was the CSE chairman and compensatory education coordinator. He started the Parent’s As Reading Partners (PARP) program at the school and loved singing to the children during the Veterans Day assembly. He taught GED class and BOCES for 5 years

Ronald was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dolgeville New York where he regularly lectured and taught Sunday school for over 25 years. His other hobbies included watching WWE wrestling every week, playing guitar and music with his twin brother, a proud veteran with his member of VFW of Little Falls Post 1112, video-taping Dolgeville football games, the Yankees, Giants, and Knicks, the Alamo, avid collecting of Utica Steins and baseball cards, was a photographer for weddings in his spare time and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Ronald will always be remembered for the love he had for his family. His greatest joy in life was his seven granddaughters “The Magnificent Seven” who will continue to keep his memory alive. Always in our hearts. They will always love their Dziadzia. His untimely passing, will leave a huge void with his family and friends, where he will be missed deeply.
