Roger K. Lynch, 70, of Oppenheim, New York, passed away on Thursday afternoon, November 18, 2021 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York with his loving family by his side.
He was born on July 7, 1951 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Edmund Lynch and Mary (Pyle) Pierce. Roger was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and graduated with the Class of 1970.
On November 4, 1972, Roger was united in marriage to Cheryl L. Smith at the Oppenheim United Methodist Church. The couple shared a union of 49 years together where they raised their seven children in a loving home.
Roger was the owner of Lynch Well Drilling in Oppenheim, New York for the last 51 years. Throughout his years of business, he built relationships with customers far and near which lead to his long-lasting success as a well driller.
In his spare time, Roger enjoyed mechanical repair and their many family pets as well as having a love of animals. His most precious time was spent in the company of his closest loved ones on family vacations, long drives with his wife, spending time at home as well as the family camp at Keyser Lake, and playing with his grandchildren. Roger was a kind, gentle and generous person who will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, he will be missed deeply by his family, friends, and community.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Cheryl L. Lynch at home; his children, Jessica Lynch Kucel of Mebane, NC, Kristy Lynch-Herringshaw and her husband, Brett, Seth Lynch, Jordan Lynch and Kyle Lynch all of Oppenheim, NY; grandchildren, Valerie Richard, Liam Kucel and Lila Kucel, Austin Capece, Kaylee Lynch, Katelyn Lynch, Kellan Herringshaw, Wesley Herringshaw, and Eyrik Herringshaw; siblings, Thomas Lynch, Greg Lynch, Tina Lynch, Brenda Lynch and Edmund Lynch; many nieces and nephews who were very dear to him; several brothers and sisters in law; extended family; and dear friends who were considered family.
He was predeceased by his son, Roger E. Lynch, his daughter, Valerie J. Lynch Richard, his father, Edmund B. Lynch, his mother, Mary E. Lynch Pierce, and his brother, Shawn P. Lynch.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Monday, November 22, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 6873 State Highway 29, Dolgeville, New York 13329 at the family home. A graveside service will be held immediately following calling hours on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills, New York, with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams, officiating. The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of St. Mary’s Hospital ICU staff especially Sarah Santos and George Saltsman, the St. Johnvsville Ambulance and the Ellis Hospial ICU Staff for all of their diligent care and compassion that was shown towards Roger and their family during his stay.
