Richard “Rick” D. Cecchetti, 63, Town of Salisbury, New York and formerly of Rockland, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Friday evening, November 29, 2024 at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York.
He was born on June 8, 1963 in Suffern, New York and was the son of the late, Gori and Mary (Ilkow) Cecchetti. Rick was educated by the Nanuet School District. For the majority of his life, he was employed as an automobile mechanic at several service centers in Rockland County, New York.
On August 31, 2002, Rick was united in marriage to Kelly A. Pfeister at their property in Salisbury Center, New York. They shared a union of 22 years together this past year.
In his younger years, Rick was in a rock band called Rare Breed where he was an enthusiastic keyboardist and vocalist. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle and puzzles. He also enjoyed building models including the Titanic, engines, wartime airplanes and helicopters. A devoted husband and loving father, he will be deeply missed by his family.
He is survived by his wife, Kelly A. Pfeister of Stony Point, NY; his only son, Richard L. Cecchetti of Stony Point, NY; and a step-daughter, Kerry Pfeister of Stony Point, NY; a brother, Ronald Cecchetti of Palm Dessert, CA; a nephew, Ronald Cecchetti, Jr.; two nieces, Veronica Cecchetti and Nicole Pfeister; several in-laws; and close friends from Salisbury, George Salanco, Joseph Bunnell, Richard Marsden and Scott Lamphere.
Rick was predeceased by his parents and a sister, Giovanna Cecchetti.
In keeping with family wishes, there will be no formal services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a date and time to be announced for Rick’s close family and friends.
