Richard E. Jerin, Sr. Obituary

Richard E. Jerin, Sr., 69, of Inghams Mills in the Town of Manheim, New York, passed away peacefully in his sleep, early Sunday morning, May 24, 2020 in the comfort of his home.

He was born on March 21, 1951 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Joseph Abraham Jerin and Ann Yvonne Siericki, and was raised by his maternal grandparents, the Grandfather and Grandmother Siericki. Richard was educated at Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1969. After high school, he attended the State University of New York, College at Brockport.

At one time, Richard was married to the former Cori L. Metz.

Richard was most recently employed by the Cooperstown Dreams Park in Cooperstown, New York and was formerly employed by Liberty in Canjoharie, New York as a health care aide from where he retired after 8 years of service. He also worked briefly at Lexington Centers in the Ephratah, New York area. Prior to that, he was employed by Little Falls Hospital in the housekeeping department for 10 years.

He was a faithful member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Cooperstown, New York, where he was active with his choir and all church activities. Richard was a selfless person, always giving to charities especially the homeless. In his spare time, he enjoyed writing poetry and loved animals. Richard was a talented carpenter where he took great pride in his self taught knowledge of the trades of electrical, plumbing, painting and building and was known as a jack of all trades. His most precious time was that spent in comfort of his family, especially his grandchildren. Richard was a true gem and will be dearly missed by his entire family.

Richard is survived by his former wife, Cori Jerin of Little Falls, New York; two children, Richard E. Jerin, Jr. of Inghams Mills, NY and Casi L. Jerin and her fiancee, Bob Carter of Inghams, Mills, NY; his grandchildren, Ava Carter, Cocoa Carter, Michael Carter and an expected grandchild due in December, 2020; his siblings, Kathy Sorano of Dolgeville, NY, Butch Atkins and his wife, Nancy of Johnstown, NY, Michael Atkins and his wife, Karen of Inghams Mills, NY; a father in law, Ronald Metz of Inghams Mills, NY; brothers and sisters in law, Ronald Metz, Jr. and his wife, Rhoni of Little Falls, NY, Karen Atkins and her husband, Michael of Inghams Mills, NY, Jodi Cronin and her husband, Mitchell of Inghams Mills, NY, Shane Metz and his companion, Cassandra Rood of Inghams Mills, NY; a cousin, Jackie Camp of Washington state; his pastor, Rev. Dane E. Boston of Cooperstown, NY and his church family, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, his mother in law, Joan Metz and a sister in law, Bambi Metz.

In keeping with current health guidelines, all funeral services will be held privately for Richard's family. Rev. Dane E. Boston, Pastor of Christ Episcopal Church will officiate a funeral service and burial will be in Rural Park Cemetery. All services are private.
