Peter G. Jaikin, Jr. Obituary

Peter G. Jaikin, Jr., 60, of Oppenheim, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at his home.

He was born on November 30, 1959 in Little Falls, New York and he was the son of Peter G. Jaikin, Sr. and Janette (MacPhereson) Jaikin.  Peter was educated at Stratford Central School and graduated with the Class of 1977. 

On February 24, 1982, Peter enlisted in the United States Army in the Infantry.  While serving his country, he earned the Rifle M-16 Badge, Hand Grenade Badge (Expert) Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and the Air Assault Badge.  He was discharged from active duty on March 1, 1984 as a Private First Class and served with the reserves until his final discharge on February 23, 1988.

In July of 1994, Peter was united in marriage to Tammy Perrigo at the Natural Bridge,

Peter was formerly employed at the Shirley J. Luck Senior Citizens Center New York where worked for 5 years.

He was of the Methodist faith, a member of the NRA and he loved his dogs, Sylus and Budders. He enjoyed hunting, target practice, watching NASCAR with his friend, Jeff, watching the Raiders play football,  and loved hanging out with Marc and Trevor.  Peter truly loved making people happy and being with family and friends. He was always lending a hand, made everyone smile around him because he was always smiling. He was easy going and was someone you enjoyed being around. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Peter is survived by his parents, Peter G. Jaikin, Sr. and wife, Ruth of Dolgeville, NY and and Janette M. Jaikin of Salisbury, NY; his wife,Tammy L. Jaikin of Oppenheim, NY; his children, Marc G. Jaikin of St. Johnsville, NY, Corey B. Perrigo and companion, Ashley Grover of Norwich,NY, Joseph R. Perrigo and companion, Lindsay Congdon; two granddaughters, Alyviah Rose Perrigo and Kaydence Robellard; five sisters, Jeanne Cool and her husband, Roy of Stratford, NY, Susan Stalnaker and her husband, Jeff of Virginia Beach, VA, Cindy Sutton and her husband, John of Dolgeville, NY, Kim Darling of Dolgeville, NY, and Julia Jaikin of Dolgeville, NY; nieces and nephews, Randy Johnson, Jr., Aaron Johnson, Jessica Barnes, Darin Darling, Sara Stalnaker, Jeena Victor, Lindsey Stalnaker, Jacob Darling, Brittney Empey and Courtney Empey; a sister and brother in law, Shelli and Roger Hedden; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and special friends, Jeff and Linda Hadcock, Trevor Congdon and MacKenzie Lawyer.

In keeping with family wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. The Jaikin Family is being cared for by Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329, (315) 429-7123.
