Nancy Bailey Obituary

Mrs. Nancy L. Bailey, 81, of 120 House Hill Road, died Saturday June 2nd, 2018 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, after a brief illness.

 

Nancy was born in Salisbury Center, on July 15, 1936, the daughter of Gerald and Marjorie (Jennings) Near and attended Stratford Schools.

 

Her marriage to Bernard J. Bailey, took place on January 28, 1967 in the Salisbury Center Methodist Church. Mr. Bailey predeceased her on March 10, 2004.

 

At one time Nancy was employed by the Milton Bradley Company, of Springfield, Mass., and also worked for many years at the former Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville. Recently Nancy assisted Bonnie Stahl with her catering business, which she enjoyed very much.

 

Nancy was a member of the “Red Hat Group”, the Oppenheim Senior Citizens, and was instrumental in forming a Kayak group that traveled on Monday’s to different area lakes to enjoy the day on the water. A personal interest in Sky diving and hot air ballooning was one of her favorites.

 

She is survived by her Niece, Jill and her husband George Hyde of Adams Center, her nephews Donald Near of the Virgin Islands, and Scott and his wife Cindy Near of Amsterdam, her sister-in-laws, Jacqueline and her husband Alfred McCarthy, and Joan Mowers both of Dolgeville, brother- in- laws,

William Bailey of Dolgeville, Leonard Bailey of Oppenheim., also several great nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Lowell Near in 1992.

 

Graveside services will be held later this summer in the Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham’s Mills, at the convenience of the family. There are No calling hours.

 

Memorials in her name may be sent to the Methodist Church, in Salisbury Center, NY 13454, or to the Salisbury Fire Department.
