Michelle M. Meehan

Michelle M. Meehan, 58, of Dolgeville, New York, and formerly of Newark, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, January 28, 2021 at the Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility in Amsterdam, New York.

Michelle was born on January 22, 1963 and was the daughter of the late, Thomas F. and Marcia M. Meehan. She attended Mount Saint Dominick Academy in Caldwell, New Jersey and graduated from Kearny High School. Michelle furthered her education and attended Keene College in Union, New Jersey.

Michelle was of the Catholic faith and a parishioner of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in Dolgeville, New York. Michelle enjoyed fishing, camping, golf and practical jokes. One of Michelle's biggest claims to fame was that she was one of the first girls to play on an all boys little league team in the State of New Jersey. Another memory was that she cut school with half of her class and took them to  the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade with her then friend and class mate, Whitney Houston. Of course she thought this was hilarious. Unfortunately, the sisters at the academy did not think so, and almost expelled them all. She was very proud of this. Michelle had a wicked sense of humor and a sweet soul. She will be dearly missed by all her friends and family.

She is survived by her siblings, Margaret Johnson and her husband, Edward of Oppenheim, NY and Charles Meehan of Herkimer, NY; nephews, Joseph Johnson of Brookfield, NY and Gregory Johnson and his wife, Brenda of Oppenheim, NY; great nephews, Kaleb Johnson and Kacey Johnson; and a great niece, Tori Johnson.

In addition to her parents, Michelle was predeceased by her brother, Tommy Meehan.

A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 31 N. Helmer Ave., Dolgeville, New York on Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Brian K. Slezak officiating. A burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery will be held at a later date. The family is being cared for by Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York.
