Michael W. Jaquay Obituary

Michael “Mike” W. Jaquay, 66, of Salisbury Center, New York, passed away peacefully, early Tuesday morning, March 19, 2024 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born on June 1, 1957, in Gloversville, New York and was the son of the late, Paul and Madeline (Link) Jaquay. Mike attended Stratford Central School and then enlisted in the United States Army where he finished his formal schooling. He enlisted in Fort Dix, New Jersey on January 19, 1976. On January 18, 1979, he was honorably discharged after serving his country.

On May 30, 1981, Mike was united in marriage to Vicky F. Jaikin in Salisbury Center, New York. The couple shared a union of nearly 43 years together and raised their three children in a loving home.

Mike was employed with Tioga Building Construction in Herkimer, New York as Superintendent and a Master Carpenter for over 20 years when he needed to take an early retirement due to his illness. Prior to that, he worked at Jersen Industries in Albany, NY as a Project Manager.

He was a member of the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, playing his guitar and writing songs. Mike took great pride in his 1977 Corvette and truly enjoyed his time cruising in his favorite car. His most precious time was spent in the company of his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren. 

Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Vicky F. Jaquay at home; his children, Michael Jaquay and his companion, Nancy Brennan of New Berlin, MD, Rick Jaquay and his wife, Joan of Dolgeville, NY and Ashley Jaquay of Dolgeville, NY; his cherished grandchildren, Halie, Tyler, Ryann, Briella, Olivia, Lucas, and Lillyana Jaquay; great-grandson, Anthony Stancavage and Alexander Stancavage; siblings, Paul Jaquay and his wife, Robin of Salisbury, NY, Edith Humphreville of Dolgeville, NY, and Brian Jaquay and his companion, Cherie Field of Lassellsville, NY; mother-in-law, Evelyn Jaikin of Dolgeville, NY; several aunts and uncles; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was predeceased by his parents and his infant brother, Rick Jaquay.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club, 697 Peckville Rd., Dolgeville, New York 13329. Members of the United States Army Honor Guard will accord military honors for Mike at 2:10 p.m. Please arrive before 1:45 p.m. to ensure the military service begins on time. All are welcome to attend.
