Mary E. (Stalnaker) Mosher, 63, of Utica, New York, formerly of New Hampshire, and a Salisbury, New York native, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the Wynn Hospital in Utica after an extended illness.
She was born on January 18, 1961, in Little Falls, New York and was the daughter of the late, Garnet Stalnaker and Alberta (Daley) Foster. Mary was educated at Stratford Central School and graduated with the Class of 1979.
In earlier years, Mary attended culinary seminars at Herkimer County Community College which led her to a career in cooking, catering and waitressing while she was in New York and when she moved to Vermont and New Hampshire. She was a devoted homemaker to her family thereafter until 2001, when a devastating aneurism and stroke, left Mary with several health issues until her passing.
Mary was raised with the Lutheran Faith. She enjoyed cooking, dancing, music, painting, and being creative by making family and friends homemade Halloween costumes. She relished in telling jokes with her keen sense of humor that could light up the room. Mary was the life of the party and was one of the most giving people you would ever meet. She will be remembered by always giving Starburst candies, a candid joke and a smile to her family and friends, a beloved sister and mother who will be missed beyond words.
She is survived by her children, Zachary Mosher, Rebecca Mosher, and Kaytlynn Mosher; her siblings, Linda Johnson and her husband, Tim of Salisbury, NY, Lois Carter of Carrollton, OH, Mark Stalnaker and his wife, Linda of Dolgeville, NY, Robert “Bob” Stalnaker and his wife, Lynn of Stratford, NY, and Jeff Stalnaker and his wife, Susan of VA; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary was predeceased by her parents and a brother-in-law, Harry “Bud” Carter and step-father, Howard Foster.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the locally owned and family operated, Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. also at the funeral home.
