Mark A. McGowan, Sr., 51, of Dolgeville, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday evening, August 29, 2020 at his home.
He was born on April 30, 1969 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Edward and Marion (Madison) McGowan. He was educated at Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1988.
Mark attended Mohawk Valley Community College and received an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology. Mark was currently employed as a plant superintendent for J.H. Rhodes in Vernon, New York.
He was of the Catholic faith and was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dolgeville, New York. In his spare time, Mark enjoyed all types of technology especially creating items with his 3D printer. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing and cooking. His most precious time was that spent in the company of his family especially his two children, Adrianna and Marky. Mark was a loving father, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed.
Mark is survived by his beloved children, Adrianna McGowan and Mark A. McGowan, Jr. at home; their mother, Jennifer (Smith) McGowan of Dolgeville, NY; his siblings, Peter McGowan and his wife, Miya of Dolgeville, NY, Edward McGowan of Salisbury, NY, Kelly Sponable and her husband, Stacy of Oppenheim, NY, Debra Rockwell of PA; several nieces and nephews; two special friends, Tracey Howard of the Town of Manheim, NY and Robert Schilling of Oppenheim, NY; his two loving bulldogs, Achilles and Brutus; and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, his father and mother in law, Dale and Phyllis Smith and a brother in law, Everett Rockwell.
The McGowan Family will hold calling hours on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York. A memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at 6 p.m. also at the funeral home. Please wear a face mask and social distancing procedures will be followed.
