Marion T. Smith Obituary

Marion T. Smith, 96, of Salisbury Center, New York and formerly of Cobleskill , New York , passed into the presence of the Lord, peacefully on Thursday evening, May 21, 2020 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on September 20, 1923 in Miami, Florida and was the daughter of the late Rev. Foster and Marion (Winnie) Taylor.  Mrs. Smith was educated at Cobleskill Central School and graduated with the Class of 1941. She then went on to further her education at Syracuse University.

On April 18, 1943, Marion was united in marriage with David M. Smith at the Methodist Church in Mineral Springs, New York .  The couple shared a union of nearly 71 years when Mr. Smith passed away on March 7, 2014 at the age of 92.

Mrs. Smith devoted the majority of her life to being a homemaker for her family. She expressed her faith in and love for the Lord as a member of various churches including New Hope Christian Fellowship Church in Dolgeville, New York.  As a younger woman she was active in her church life by teaching Sunday School and also release time religious classes during the week at school.  In her spare time, Marion enjoyed reading.

She is survived by her beloved children, Rex Smith of Bennington VT, David Smith and his wife, Barbara of Esperance, NY, Regina Smith of Little Falls NY, Mary Smith of Salisbury Center, NY, Deborah Muller and her husband, David of Dolgeville, NY, and Barry Smith and his wife Anita of Rochester, NY; loving grandchildren, Rex Smith, Brian Smith, Paul Smith, Aaron Smith, Kevin Smith, Thalia Wilburn, Jeremy Smith, Regan Leston, Jennifer Ferguson, Kristen Haley,  Greg Smith, Melissa Muller, and Michael Muller; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister in law, Jane Taylor of Oneonta, NY; and one niece Barbara Corsall of Cobleskill NY,  Scott Taylor of Cobleskill NY

Marion was predeceased by her beloved husband, David M. Smith, a daughter in law, Lola Smith, a granddaughter Annette Kelley and a son in law Robert Hannum.

In keeping with the wishes of Mrs. Smith, a graveside memorial services will be held privately in Cobleskill Rural Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband.
