Margot H. Carlson Obituary

Margot H. Carlson, 85, of Hillsdale, New York and formerly of Watch Hill and Westerly, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at Berkshire Place in Pittsfield, Massachusetts with her loving family by her side.

She was born on May 12, 1940 in Germany, Europe and was the daughter of the late, Henrichs and Lotte (Henrichs) Hermann. Margot was educated in German schools where she graduated from high school.

Margot moved to the United States where she started her family, becoming a mother to James, Michael and Betina.

She married her husband, Albert Carlson who predeceased her several years ago.

She owned two successful retail stores called, Puffins of Watch Hill and Puffins of Mystic, CT, an upscale American made gallery, for over 35 years where she enjoyed her life-long passion of fine art and beautiful craftmanship. Her days consisted of sharing and living her life with family, loyal customers, friends and artisans.

Margot was a long-time resident of Watch Hill, RI and Westerly, RI and after retirement, Margot moved closer to her son, James, daughter, Betina and granddaughter, Jamie, where she enjoyed bird watching, deer, wildlife and an occasional bear on her property in the country.

Margot lived a beautiful life and was a loving mother who always put her children and grandchildren first. She is survived by her beloved children, two sons, James Walton and Mike Walton; her daughter, Betina Gunther Larrivee; three special grandchildren, Robert Rothvoss, Jr., Samuel Gunther, and Jamie Walton Cantele; five great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and one great-grandchild due in September; her loving sister, Renete Hunn and her husband, Werner Hunn; and she was loved and will be deeply missed by her nieces and nephews and extended family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a date, time and place to be announced. The family is being cared for by family friends at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329, Cremations and Funerals.
