Lucius E. Jeffers, Sr. Obituary

Lucius E. Jeffers, Sr., 91, of the Town of Salisbury, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Little Falls Hospital in Little Falls, New York with his loving family by his side.

He was born on March 3, 1933 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Edward and Reva (Kelley) Jeffers. Lucius attended Dolgeville Central School where he excelled in football. He graduated with the Class of 1951.

In January of 1961, he was united in marriage to Betty Ives. The couple shared 27 years of marriage when Betty passed away unexpectedly on March 24, 1988 at the age of 46 years old.

On July 29, 1989, Lucius married Genevieve V. (Ashley) Jeffers at the Salisbury Parsonage in Salisbury, New York. They have shared a loving union of 35 years together.

Lucius began his career early on his family’s farm on Dairy Hill Road. After several years, he also worked in logging and excavation. Eventually, he went to work for the New York State Department of Transportation as a Dispatcher. He served the state for 25 years until his retirement in 1995.

He was a former member of the Spruce Lake Fish & Game Club. Lucius enjoyed hunting, fishing, cutting firewood and made maple syrup for the last 20 years. He was a respected man in Salisbury and will be remembered by all for his calm demeanor. His most precious time was spent in the company of his beloved family and will be dearly missed by him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Genevieve V. Jeffers at home; two sons, Lucius Jeffers, Jr. and his wife, Laurie of Ilion, NY and Jason Jeffers of Herkimer, NY; step-children, Valerie Reardon and her husband, Warren of Cooperstown, NY, Robin Moran and her husband, John of Ann Arbor, MI, John Sullivan of Utica, NY and Shawn Sullivan and his companion, Angie of Morganton, NC; 13 grandchildren, including a special granddaughter, Morgan Jeffers; and 6 great-grandchildren.

Lucius was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Robin (Jeffers) Pautard on October 6, 2004.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 10 a.m. at the Comstock Cemetery also known as the Kelley Family Cemetery on Dairy Hill Road, Town of Salisbury.
