Linda Ermisch of Little Falls, NY went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in her eternal home on January 23, 2026.
Linda was born on August 1, 1947 in Dolgeville, NY to Oscar and Emily Sarpen (nee Ortlieb). Linda was a graduate of Dolgeville Central High School in 1965. She attended the University of Nebraska, where she received a bachelor of fine arts degree in Art Education with a specialization in pottery in 1969, followed by a doctorate degree in Administration, Education and Curriculum Writing in 1980.
Linda spent many years as an art educator, including at the University of Nebraska, Chestnut Hill College in PA and the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School District. Linda also served as Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Herkimer County for a number of years.
Upon retirement, Linda enjoyed creating pottery in her art studio, as well as continuing to teach private art lessons. Linda took great pleasure in being “on the farm” where she lived for more than forty years. She enjoyed riding her beloved horses, gardening, fishing, foraging, being out in nature and spending time with family on the farm.
Linda was an ardent servant of the Lord. She served her church faithfully, and regularly came to the aid of many in need.
Linda is survived by her husband, Karl; her daughters, Laura (Matthew Henry) Ritchie and Christine (Jamie) Sherwood; her son, Daniel Ermisch;grandchildren, Connor Sherwood, Jack Sherwood, Quinn Henry and Ian Henry; brother, William Sarpen and sisters, Kathleen Sarpen and Lori Ann Guetti.
She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Thomas Sarpen.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Free Methodist Church, 838 W. German St., Herkimer, NY 13350. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. also at the church. Burial will be held in the spring at Rural Park Cemetery in the Town of Manheim, NY. The family is being cared for by locally owned and family operated, Miller-Plonka Funeral Home and Roberts Funeral Home in Dolgeville, NY.
