Lawrence "Larry" D. Comstock Obituary

Lawrence “Larry” D. Comstock, 80, of Dolgeville, New York passed away on Thursday afternoon, July 28, 2022 at St. Joseph’s Health Hospital in Syracuse, New York after complications from heart surgery. At the time of his passing, he was comforted and supported with love from his family.

He was born on March 28, 1942 on the family farm in Emmonsburg, New York and was the son of the late, Arthur and Edith (Voorhees) Comstock, Sr. Larry was educated at Stratford Central School.

Larry was a self-employed contractor in the Dolgeville area and owned several construction and contracting businesses for the majority of his life.

He was a member of the Stratford United Methodist Church. Larry enjoyed farming, horse riding, hunting, fishing and gardening. His most precious time was spent in the company of his family and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Larry is survived by his companion, Virginia “Ginger” Barker of Dolgeville, NY; children, Terry Comstock and his wife, Michelle of Dolgeville, NY, Lynne Randall and her husband, Rodney of Stratford, NY, Tammy Hoke and her husband, Ken of Dolgeville, NY, Larry Comstock and his wife, Renee of Salisbury, NY and Nathan Comstock and his wife, Jessica of Fairfield, NY; grandchildren, Brandon and Melissa Snyder, Adam and Kaleigh Snyder, Alex and Kayla Snyder, Martika Frederick and fiancée Nathan Boepple, Austin Frederick, Ashley Randall, Heather Randall, Joshua Randall, Jena Comstock, Ryan Comstock, Payton Comstock, Kamryn Comstock, Zack Comstock, Bradley Comstock, Eli Comstock, Piper Comstock, Jamie Ellwood and Samantha Hoke; Virginia’s family, daughter, Donna Rice and her husband, Robert of Newport, NY and their children, Alex, Emily, Allison, Ty and Brittany; son, Phillip Barker, Jr. and his wife, Nanci of New York Mills, NY and their children, Derek Barker and his wife, Becca, Zack Barker, and Lauren Barker; son, Paul Barker and his wife, Diana of VA and their children, Taylor and Hunter: 21 great-grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Sherman of Gloversville, NY; a brother, Sidney Comstock of Dolgeville, NY; sisters-in-law, Marie Comstock of Dolgeville, NY and Nelda Cheney of Oppenheim, NY; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and extended family.

He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Lori Comstock; his brothers, Arthur Comstock, Willis Comstock and his wife, Betty and Roselle Comstock; a sister, Lillian Hilly; a brother-in-law, Wally Sherman; and a sister-in-law, Norma Comstock.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Dibble Tuttle Cemetery with Pastor Matt Worley officiating. The family will receive relatives and friends to the Stratford United Methodist Church after the service for a luncheon.
