LaVerne A. Dudik Obituary

LaVerne A. Dudik, 87, a life-long Dolgeville, NY resident, passed away unexpectedly at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing in Ilion, NY after a short-term rehabilitation stay.

She was born on September 3, 1932 in Dolgeville, NY and was the daughter of the late Frederick and Owaetta (Timmerman) Waldvogel.  LaVerne was educated at Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1950. 

On March 20, 1954, LaVerne was united in marriage to John "Duke" S. Dudik in Dolgeville, NY and the couple would have celebrated 66 years of marriage together this Friday.

In her early years, LaVerne worked at Daniel Green Shoe Company in Dolgeville , NY and New York Telephone in Little Falls and Herkimer, NY.  While raising her daughter, Debbie, LaVerne owned and operated her own beauty shop in Dolgeville called LaVerne's Style Nook for numerous years.  In the mid-1980's, LaVerne earned her real estate license and worked for Century 21 Rob Diedrich Associates.  LaVerne was a decorated real estate agent for 30 years and earned top sales records throughout the Mohawk Valley, Adirondacks and New York State .  She retired in 2015.

LaVerne was a member of many real estate associations such as, as well as a member of the United Lutheran Presbyterian Parish, Auskerada Maques Rock City Chapter #308 Order of the Eastern Star, Dolgeville Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary, sponsor of a team for the Dolgeville Bowling Alley, and a member of The National Rifle Association.  Throughout the years, LaVerne had been active with her work life, reading, traveling, sewing, crocheting, knitting, baking, snowmobiling, four wheeling, making the best milkshakes, rifle and pistol shooting, and in younger years, driving log trucks.  Her most precious time was that spent with her family. LaVerne's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the lights of her life along with her 4-legged furry kids.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, John "Duke" S. Dudik at home; a daughter, Deborah "Debbie" (Dudik) Comstock of Whitesboro, NY; grandson, Ryan Comstock of Dolgeville, NY; granddaughter, Jena Comstock of Dolgeville, NY; great-grandchildren, Lucas Benson, Joseph Benson, Kendall Gardener, and Eva Gardener; a brother, Tim Schumacher and his wife, Patricia of Ilion, New York and their children, T.J. Schumacher of Ohio and Nicole Schumacher of Ilion, NY; a cousin who was like a sister to LaVerne, Gail Timmerman of Dolgeville, NY; many nieces, nephews and cousins; two best friends, Shirley Mosher of Herkimer, NY and Joann Higgins of Stratford, NY; her best fur friend, Duchess.

LaVerne was predeceased by many brothers and sisters in law, a loving canine companion, Dozzer, who is the brother of Dutchess and many of LaVerne's dogs who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge .

There will be no formal funeral services at the funeral home at this time. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later time during the summer months at a time to be announced. Arrangements are with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York, 315-429-7123.
