Kathleen Vennard, 82, of Pleasant Lake, Town of Stratford, New York, passed away unexpectedly at her home early Thursday morning, July 24, 2025 with her loving husband, Thomas, by her side.
She was born on May 26, 1943 in Murray, Utah and was the daughter of the late, Dean and Ruth (Wilkins) Witt. Kathleen was educated at Jordan High School in Jordan, Utah and graduated with the Class of 1959. She went on to attend Steven Henniger Business College where she earned her Associate’s Degree.
On October 29, 1967, Kathleen was united in marriage to Thomas J. Vennard in Wykoff, New Jersey. The couple shared a loving union of nearly 58 years together.
Kathleen was formerly employed in business management for several corporations and eventually went on to own her own retail business called The Whistle Stop in Cambridge, New York where she sold sports equipment and women’s clothing. She also taught hundreds of children piano lessons to enhance their careers and their interests in music throughout the years. Kathleen was also a 17 year consultant and sales representative for Mary Kay Products.
She was a member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints. Katheleen also was an avid reader, seamstress as well as a creator and maker of leather art pillows. She loved fine arts, music and creating art pieces with oil based and water color painting. Kathleen and her husband, Thomas, moved to Pleasant Lake in 1985 where they built their dream home, and established beautiful relationships with their friends and neighbors throughout the last 40 years.
Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Thomas J. Vennard at home; a loving daughter, Debbi Ferris and her husband, Rich of Seneca Falls, NY; grandchildren, Annilace Wills of Parkersburg, WV, Wesley Wills and his wife, Rachel of Sanford, FL, and Brandon Ferris of Seneca Falls, NY; great-grandchildren, Madison Moore, Stefania Krzan, Elijah DeMetro, Justice Allen, Noah Wills, Mason Wills, Lillian Wills, Jackson Wills and Carter Ferris; great-great grandchildren, Adilyn, Allen, Emmett and Steven; sisters, Danell Sorenson, Randy Bringhurst, and Melanie Nielsen; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martin and Jane Friedman; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her sister, Dorothy McGuire and her husband, Michael; brother, Leslie “Sonny” Witt; and brother-in-law, Dennis Bringhurst.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329, Cremations and Funerals. The calling hours will end with a prayer and no formal funeral.
