June E. Young Obituary

June E. Young, 89, of the Town of Oppenheim, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday night, October 14, 2025 at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Little Falls, New York with her family by her side. With the love of her caring family, June was able to remain in the comfort of her home all these years until several months ago.

She was born on October 2, 1936 in Oppenheim, New York and was the daughter of the late, Ernest and Evelyn (Atkins) Weaver. June was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and graduated with the Class of 1954. On April 30, 1955, June was united in marriage to G. Arthur (Art) Young at the United Methodist Church in Lassellsville, New York. The couple shared a union of 30 years when Art passed away unexpectedly on November 4, 1985.

June was formerly employed with Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School in food service in the cafeteria. Her delicious cookies, home cooked food and loving personality she shared with her students and staff will be remembered dearly.

June spent many years babysitting for several families in the area, cooking, baking homemade breads as well as baking and decorating cookies, decorating her home, and making brownies for the Dolgeville Central School boys soccer team and friends of Shawn Avery, her grandson.

She was a charter member of the Hilltop Volunteer Fire Department, a member of the Oppenheim Senior Center and an organizer of the Summer Youth Program. June also received the “Random Acts of Kindness Proclamation” in 2017 from the Town of Oppenheim, New York.

In addition to her baking skills, June enjoyed reading, doing word search, and surfing Facebook where she always shared a kind and supportive post to many of her friends. Her most precious time was spent in the company of her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren where she would share her love and laughter. Affectionately known as, “Grandma June”, anyone that knew her was sure to get the best hugs and caring words with each visit. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and loved her.

She is survived by her three beloved daughters, Amy Voorhees, Brenda Avery and Dawn Carpenter, all of Oppenheim, NY; seven special grandchildren, Kelly Voorhees of Little Falls, NY, Kathy Glanovsky and her husband, Jeffrey of the Town of Manheim, NY, Kristy Buccolo and her husband, Michael of Oppenheim, NY, Kayla Norris and her husband, Robert of Oppenheim, NY, Shawn Avery and his wife, Adrienne of Salem, NH, Jacob Carpenter and his wife, Sarah of Little Falls, NY, and Amanda Carpenter and her fiancée, Darryl of Oppenheim, NY; cherished great-grandchildren, Nicholas Buccolo, Emily Buccolo, Marshal Norris, Mira Norris, all of Oppenheim, NY, Jace Avery and Ella Avery of Salem, NH, Zak Imsirovic of Little Falls, NY and Parker Carpenter of Little Falls, NY; a brother, Harold Weaver of Oppenheim, NY; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Young of Clifton Park, NY; several nieces and nephews; and honorary grandchildren, Michaela Brandow and Allyson (Brandow) Nourse, Andrew Rogers, Michael Buccolo, Kerry Hoffman, Cady Hoffman and Kenna Hoffman.
