Joseph D. Lorme Obituary

Joseph D. Lorme, 77, of Stratford, New York passed away on Tuesday night, December 1, 2020 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady, New York.

He was born on December 29, 1942 in Brooklyn, New York and was the son of the late, Joseph and Rose (Grimaldi) Lorme. Joseph was educated in the New York City Public School system and graduated in 1960.

Joseph enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on April 4, 1962. While serving during the Vietnam War era, Lance Corporal Lorme, earned the Vietnam Service Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Sharpshooter Qualification Badge and Pistol Expert Qualification Badge. His most honorable distinction was being a Purple Heart Recipient for his heroism in the Vietnam War. Joseph was honorably discharged on June 9, 1967 after five years of dedicated service to his country.

On December 20, 1977, Joseph was united in marriage to Angelica Guerrero in Queens, New York. They shared nearly 43 loving years together.

Joseph was formerly employed by several companies in New York City as a computer programmer before he and his wife, Angie, moved to Stratford, New York.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting from an early age. Joseph also enjoyed camping and spending time with is extended family. He will be deeply missed.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife, Angelica Lorme at home; three loving daughters, Lisa Lorme of NY, Christine Darnell and her husband, Steve of Oxford, NC and Gina Lorme of Oxford, NC; three special grandchildren, Delila Smith of NY, Blair Darnell of Raleigh, NC, and Harry Darnell and his fiance, Laci Muti of Clayton, NC; a great-granddaughter, Emma Grace Darnell; a sister, Rosemary Marino of San Antonio, TX; a sister in law, Beverly Lorme of CT; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Eddie Lorme and Sandy Lorme and his wife, Gerri, and a brother in law and sister in law, Jose and Nelly Guerrero.

The Lorme family would like to thank a special family friend, Barbara Davis of Stratford, New York for her kind, loving and compassionate care and friendship for Joseph and Angie throughout the years.

There will be no formal services at this time for Mr. Lorme. The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, New York 13329.
