John J. Herringshaw, 34, of the Town of Manheim, Little Falls, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Monday morning, December 11, 2023 in Little Falls, New York.
He was born on March 13, 1989 in Ilion, New York and was the son of Pat Herringshaw and Barbara (Victor) Herringshaw. John attended Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School. He furthered his studies at the University of Pheonix, Small Mechanic Program.
Over the last few years, John was an avid logger and had a true skill at cutting trees and woodsman ship. He spent many years working for himself throughout the area. He was employed by many building companies over the years but his true calling was in the woods and was a logger by heart. He was last employed with Garden Homes Management Corporation/Josh Sterling in Utica, NY where he was a laborer.
John enjoyed riding motorcycles, hiking, panning for gold, excavating rocks and woodworking. He was a loyal friend to all who knew him. A loving son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and beloved family member, John will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his beloved parents, Barbara Herringshaw and her companion, Dale Hartman of the Town of Manheim, Little Falls, NY and Pat Herringshaw and his wife, Kathy of Dolgeville, NY; sisters, Jennifer Hart and her husband, Jason of Fort Plain, NY, Heather Munio and her husband, Benjamin of Herkimer, NY, Billi Herringshaw of Dolgeville, NY and Shelby Herringshaw of Herkimer, NY; loving uncle to his nieces and nephews, Emily Jackson, Cameron Jackson, Ryleigh Hart, Ashlynn Hart and Wyatt Hart; he recently became a great-uncle to his great-niece, Madylea Jackson; a special companion, Danielle Dean of Herkimer, NY; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
John was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Pat and Janet Herringshaw, his maternal grandparents, John and Marion Victor, and his uncle, Jim Green.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329. There will be a Celebration of Life Reception to follow at the East Herkimer Sno-Riders, 2167 Route 169, Little Falls, New York 13365 that will begin at 2:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend the services.
