Joanne J. Bahr, 77, of Dolgeville, New York passed away peacefully early Friday morning, October 7, 2022 in the Town of Fairfield, New York, with the love and support of her family by her side.
She was born on March 22, 1945 in Little Falls, New York and was the daughter of the late, Eustace and Gertrude (Atkins) Avery. Joanne was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and graduated with the Class of 1964.
On July 18, 1970, Joanne was united in marriage to Ronald C. Bahr in Dolgeville, New York. The couple shared 39 years together and were enjoying their retirement when Mr. Bahr passed away on October 2, 2009.
Joanne was previously employed by Daniel Green Shoe Company, Rawlings Adirondack Manufacturing Company and lastly at Gehring Tricot where she retired after 11 years of service.
Joanne was a parishioner of the United Lutheran Presbyterian Parish in Dolgeville, NY as well as a member of the Red Hat Society and the Oppenheim Senior Center. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, knitting, dog and cat sitting for family and friends, and in her younger years, reading to children at O.E.C.S and fishing with her husband. She truly enjoyed spending time with her sons and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her four sons, Jeffrey Bahr and his wife, Jennifer of Apalachin, NY, James Bahr and his wife, Stephanie of Portsmouth, RI, Jason Bahr and his wife, Lauren of Owasso, OK, and Jerold Bahr and his companion, Sarah Grainer of Middleville, NY; six grandchildren, Nathan, Ryan, Katelyn, Colin, Julia and Landon; three sisters, Lois Waldron of Herkimer, NY, Jan Krump and her husband, Pete of Oppenheim, NY and Sharon Thomas of Oppenheim, NY; several nieces, nephews, cousins and several life-long friends.
Joanne was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Jim Thomas.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329. A funeral service will be held the following day, Thursday, October 20, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home with Rev. Betsy Jay officiating the service. Burial will be held immediately following the funeral at Dolgeville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her husband.
