Joan M. Moore Obituary

Joan M. Moore, 84, of Salisbury Center, New York passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, May 16, 2026 at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Little Falls, New York where she stayed briefly.

She was born on September 7, 1941 in Stratford, New York and was the daughter of the late, Richard and Mary (Bradley) Rockwell. Joan attended Stratford Central School and graduated with the Class of 1959.

On March 26, 1960, Joan was united in marriage to Dean R. Moore at the Salisbury Methodist Church Parsonage in Salisbury Center, New York. The couple shared a marriage of 42 years until Dean passed away on July 30, 2002.

Joan and Dean began Dean Moore Logging which started in Salisbury and then they moved their logging business from Salisbury to Oneonta in 1981. She spent over 50 years assisting her husband and serving as bookkeeper for the business until September of 2000. Throughout the years she also worked at Burlington Coat Factory and Box Company, both in Oneonta before relocating back to her home roots in Salisbury.

In addition to being a founding member of the Salisbury Ridgerunners Snowmobile Club, Joan was a woman of many talents and passions. She found great joy in the artistry of sewing and crocheting, often spending her time creating beautiful pieces for her family and exploring local craft fairs.  Joan cherished the change of scenery and the memories made during frequent trips to her winter home in Florida and her beloved camp in Colorado. Whether she was on the move or at home, her infectious passion for life and unwavering dedication to her family were the hallmarks of her 84 years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Jodie Harper of Salisbury Center, NY and Lori Rynkiewicz and her husband, Ed of East Merideth, NY; grandchildren, April and Joshua Galletta, of Salisbury, NY, Kesley and Greg Reid of Dolgeville, NY, Tyler and Kayla Kluge of Gloversville, NY, Heidi Silvernail of Tampa, FL, Lindsay Youker and Samuel O’Brien-Wilson of Oneonta, NY, Judson Youker of Oppenheim, NY, and Cassidy, Abby and Alicia Moore of Caribou, ME and Shelbi Emerson of Fly Creek, NY; great-grandchildren, Victoria Galletta, Olivia Galletta, Rayne LaVeck, Aria LaVeck, Callum Reid, Mylo Reid, Ellie Kluge, Koahl Kluge, Hunter Youker, Jayce Youker, Hudson Youker, Hannah Bouchard, and Charlotte Bouchard; in-laws, Arlene Rockwell, Arnold “Sonny” Moore, Harlene Cramer, JoAnn Cotter and Grant Moore; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
