Mrs. Joan Peets, 82, of 131 Peets Road Dolgeville, town of Oppenheim, died Wednesday June 20, 2018 at St. Johnsville Nursing Home, where she had been a resident since May of this year.
Joan was born in Salisbury Center, in 1935 the daughter of John and Blanche (Metz- Dady) Lowell, and was the granddaughter of Judge William and Elsa Metz of Salisbury Center.
Joan attended St. Mary’s Academy in Little Falls, and furthered her education by attending BOCES, graduating from there as a Nursing Tech.
She was united in Marriage to Floyd J. Peets Sr., on June 19, 1965 in St. Joseph’s Church Dolgeville, with father Halpin officiating. Mr. Peets predeceased her on August 28, 1987.
Joan was employed by the former Daniel Green Company of Dolgeville and was last employed by the Little Falls Hospital, retiring several years ago.
She was a faithful member of St. Joseph’s Church, and a member of the Red Hat Society. She personally enjoyed her morning walks around the village, along with her morning meetings with her friends at Motors Inn. She also enjoyed line dancing, and spending time in the family pool.
Joan is survived by her sons and their wives Floyd J. Jr. and Linda Peets and Roger and Loraine Peets, her Grandchildren Renee, Matthew and his fiancée Amanda, Christy and her husband Dennis Yost ,Missy and her fiancé Paul, Jennifer Countryman, her great Grandchildren Kaylynn, Brooke ,Ava, Kyndra ,& Owen Daniel ,Sarah,& Jay Ryan , her sisters and their husbands Ann & Peter Higgins of Mohawk, Mariann & Richard Viel of Liverpool, NY, a Brother John and Gracye Dady of Syracuse, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother James and his wife Janet.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday June 25, 2018, at11 AM, at St. Joseph’s Church, Helmer Avenue Dolgeville. Burial will follow in St. Josephs Cemetery. There are No Calling hours, but friends are invited to the church for her Mass.
