Jeffrey J. Metot Obituary

Jeffrey J. Metot, aka Jeff MacGyver, 53, of the Town of Manheim, Little Falls, New York, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2026, at Little Falls Hospital in Little Falls, New York, after a six-year battle with cancer. At the time of his passing, he had the comfort, love, and care of his life partner, Shelley, his daughters, and aunt by his side.

He was born on February 22, 1973, in Little Falls, New York, and was the son of the late Timothy and Margaret (Urbiss) Metot. Jeff was educated at Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1991.

In December 2004, Jeff met Shelley Dyn and established a loving and fun relationship that lasted over 21 years, during which he shared in raising her daughters, Danielle and Kaitlyn, as if they were his own children.

In his younger years, Jeff worked at Burrows Papermill in Little Falls, NY, Manheim Automotive in Dolgeville, NY, and, for over 19 years, he was employed by Walmart Distribution Center in Sharon Springs, NY.

In his spare time, Jeff loved snowmobiling, gardening, hunting, camping, gambling, and working on vehicles. He liked to tinker on everything and could fix most anything. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, the personality to light up a room, and his love for his family. Jeff will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his life partner of over 21 years, Shelley A. Dyn of Manheim, NY; his daughters, Danielle LaGrange and her companion, Dean Taylor and Kaitlyn LaGrange and her fiancé, Cole Harlow; grandchildren, Lucas Harlow and Macie Harlow; a special great-nephew, Levi Burrell; aunt and uncle, Nancy and Lynn Richards; cousin, Jason Urbiss; Shelley’s family, his mother-in-law, Gailyn Dyn; Pam and Ziggy Gohde, Deonna and Jay Fagan, Trisha Dyn; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Jeff was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, of the Urbiss and Metot Families, and his father-in-law, Walter Dyn, Jr.

A Celebration of Life Reception will be held at the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club on Sunday, June 14, 2026 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The family is being cared for by locally owned and family-operated Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329, Cremations and Funerals.
