Jane Hajeris Obituary

Jane Hajeris, 87, of Frankfort, New York, (Town of Schuyler) and formerly from Dolgeville, New York, passed away peacefully on Thursday afternoon, December 12, 2024 with her family by her side.

She was born on September 20, 1937 in Lithuania, was a daughter of the late Ewald and Anna Hajeris and was the second youngest of her 13 siblings. Jane and her family moved to the United States from Germany when she was a young girl. She was educated at Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1955.

Jane was formerly employed as a secretary with the YMCA and finished her career working with Herb Bowen Contact Lenses until her retirement.

She enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together and feeding her cherished birds. Jane was fortunate enough to take a recent trip to Germany and visit her heritage. She took great pride in being the caregiver to several of her siblings in their final years of life. A loving aunt, cousin and friend, she will be truly missed.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Rita Thompson and her husband Larry, of Clinton, NY; Erica Hagan of Utica, NY, Zina Cochran and her husband, Jeffery of Floral Park, FL, Ryan Hajeris of Luxemburg, Richard Hajeris of Albany, NY, Janet Worthington and her husband, Doug, of Pasco, WA, Jacqueline Eliason and her husband, Ed of Spanaway, WA, Penny Harris of Mohawk, NY and Nadine Harris of Tampa, FL; a great-nieces and great-nephews, Carrie Barry and her husband, Ryan of Clinton, NY, Bret Thompson and his fiance, Megan of Old Forge, NY, Brooke Hagan of Utica, NY and Connor Hagan of Utica, NY; a cousin, Linda Ermisch and her husband, Karl of the Town of Manheim, NY; brother in law, Ted Snell of Bullhead City, AZ; special friends, Judy and Anthony Piana and Eugenia and William Taft; and many great-great nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Richard Hajeris and his wife, Ann, Martha Alguire and her husband, William, Zina Brown and her husband, Robert, Selma Valis and her husband, Victor, Olga Snell, Alma Dickson and her husband Charles, Walter Harris and his wife, Sandy, Gary Hajeris and his wife, Maryann, Edwin Hajeris, and three infant siblings; and a nephew, Edwin Dickson

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the locally owned and family operated, Roberts Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, New York 13329. A memorial service will be held immediately following calling hours at 12 p.m. (noon) also at the funeral home. A graveside committal service will follow at Dolgeville Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her family. The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home inconjunction with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home.
