Jamie C. Burkhart Obituary

Jamie C. (Wurzbacher) Burkhart, 47, of Herkimer, New York and formerly of Tampa, Florida, passed away peacefully at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York early Tuesday morning, May 3, 2023 with her loving husband and siblings by her side, after a two-year battle with cancer.

She was born on November 8, 1975 in Gloversville, New York and was the daughter of James C. Wurzbacher and Audrey E. Rowe. Jamie attended Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School until the fourth grade when her family moved to Florida. She then attended and graduated from Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, Florida with the Class of 1993.

Jamie continued her education and attended University of South Florida where she earned a Bachelor’s of Science in General Business Administration in 2017.

Due to her illness, Jamie was united in an early marriage ceremony to Aaron S. Burkhart on October 23, 2022. The couple were going to hold their public wedding and reception on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Beardslee Castle so that their family and friends could celebrate all together. Jamie fought a hard tough battle with cancer and believed she would make it until her special wedding day.

Jamie was currently employed with Price, Waterhouse and Cooper, LLC out of Tampa, Florida where she was a Senior Associate in the Tax Division. She was a valuable team member with her 11-year employment with the company.

She was a big animal lover and was a supporter of Pause 4 All Paws and her best friends bird rescue, Melky’s Place. Jamie loved cats and rescued many feline friends over the years. One of her most favorite childhood memories was the time spent at her family’s camp on Canada Lake and even after her family did not own it anymore, she would continue to visit the lake as an adult. She also enjoyed traveling and her weekly dinner dates with her husband.

Jamie left this earth way before her time. She was loved deeply by her family and closest friends and will be sorely missed by them.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Aaron S. Burkhart of Herkimer, New York; her step-children, Jayden Burkart, Alanna Burkhart, and Aarolyn Burkhart, all of Little Falls, NY; her siblings, Jacqueline Hollister and her husband, Frank of Winter Haaven, FL, Michael Spofford and his wife, Sue of Plattsburgh, NY and Leigh Anne Brown and her husband, Graham of Dubai, UAE; a special sister, best friend and soul mate, Ginger (Grande) Reed and her husband, Scott of Mohawk, NY; a sister and brother in-law, Heather and TJ Yeoman of Rome, NY; father-in-law, Kevin Burkhart of Hershey, PA; mother-in-law, Laurel Carver of Ilion, NY; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jamie was predeceased by her parents, James C. Wurzbacher and Audrey (Rowe) Newman; paternal grandparents, Carl and Bessie Wurzbacher; and maternal grandparents, John and Eunice Rowe.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Salisbury Rural Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her parents and grandparents. Arrangements are with long-time family friends of Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York.

Jamie’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Oncology and Treatment Departments of Bassett Healthcare, Herkimer office and in particular, Jamie’s favorite doctor, Dr. Canary for all her love and support during her illness.
