Family members sharing special memories of Jim:

James

I finished second at Fonda. I never seen a Dad run so fast and have smile so damn big ever. He just grabbed me and squeezed and picked me up. He was so damn proud. I still watch that race at least two times a year.

Kyle

My whole life with Dad was a special memory. How can I possibly choose one. But my favorite memory would be the nights he climbed into that racecar always with a big smile on his face, knowing he was doing what he loved to do…being a hero to us kids.

Courtney

It’s impossible to pick just one memory from a lifetime of them. With Dad, it’s impossible. Every race day, every car ride (when its quiet and he yells BANG!), every one of his silly jokes, or saying whenever he had to pee, “my eyeballs are floating” or when I was upset and crying, he would say, “hey what’s wrong with your face? It’s leaking.” or when he could do whatever his grandbabies wanted to do, he was always up for it. One memory that sticks is when I was a little girl, I had my hair in piggy tails, he would always grab them and steer by head around like a motorcycle and say, “broom, broom”.

AJ

I will always remember the glowing smile that beamed through his mischievous, unforgettable, infectious smile and the warmth of his love when he had his two granddaughters wrapped tightly in his arms.

The family would like to thank Ralph, Dillon and Alex for all the help on the race cars in the garage as well as anyone who has reached out in support for the family during these devastating days of grief.
