Howard C. Smith

Howard C. Smith, 64, originally from Oppenheim, New York and most recently of Colton, New York, passed away early Saturday morning, January 15, 2022 at the Fulton Center in Gloversville, New York.

He was born on May 9, 1957 in Amsterdam, New York and was the son of the late, Robert and Marilyn (Lowell) Smith. Howard was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School.

Howard worked in construction for most of his career and was formerly employed with Jack Pollitt Welding and Construction and also with D & D Enterprises both of St. Johnsville, New York.

In his spare time, Howard enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

He is survived by his son, Justin Smith (Emily) of Schenectady, NY; a grandson, Sage Smith of Schenectady, NY; his siblings, Linda Montana, Cheryl Lynch and Robert Smith (Tracy) all of Oppenheim, NY, Tim Smith (Tina) of Caroga Lake, NY, Kevin Smith (Michele) of Del Rio, TX, and Robert Flansburg (Tina) of Saratoga, NY; many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Howard was predeceased by his parents, Robert L. Smith, Sr. and Marilyn J. (Lowell) Smith, and companion, Pam Barnes.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf St., Dolgeville, NY 13329. A spring graveside service will be held at Rural Park Cemetery in Inghams Mills, New York at a date and time to be announced.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Fulton Center for their care and compassion that was shown to Howard in his final days.
