Helen M. Rachon Obituary

Helen M. Rachon, 89, of Johnstown, New York and formerly of Dolgeville, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville, New York.

She was born on May 9, 1935 at home in Middleville, New York and was the daughter of the late, Thomas and Elsa (Rath) Lynch. Helen received her education at West Canada Central School.

On April 22, 1971, Helen was united in marriage to Edward W. Rachon in Palatine Bridge, New York. The couple shared a union of 39 years when Edward passed away on June 16, 2010.

Helen was formerly employed in the housekeeping department at Little Falls Hospital for many years until her retirement in 2015. Prior to that, she worked at several local businesses.

In her spare time, she enjoyed camping and keeping everyone’s laundry spotless. A caring and devoted, sister, aunt, great-aunt and cherished great-great aunt, Helen will be deeply missed by her family.

She is survived by her siblings, Florine Stewart of Coldbrook, NY, Eileen Foster and her husband, Bill of Dolgeville, NY, Wesley Lynch and his wife, Kim of Middleville, NY and Debra Russell of Idaho; a sister-in-law, Karen Lynch of Coldbrook, NY; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, one great-great niece, and seven great-great nephews, that were the light of her life, Linlee Loucks, Nash Loucks, Regan Sisum, Easton Sisum, Jameson Sisum, Cole Chicoski, Mason Chicoski, and Kenneth Chicoski; and extended family.

Helen was predeceased by her siblings and their spouses, Charles Lynch, William Lynch and his wife, Ina, Arthur Lynch and his wife,Paula, Larry Lynch, James Lynch, Lois Rose and her husband Donald, Louise Crowell and her husband, Merlin and Theresa Baumes and her husband, Clayton.

In keeping with Helen’s wishes, there will be no formal services. A private spring burial will be held at Rural Park Cemetery, where Edward and Helen remains will be inurned together. The family is being served by locally owned and family operated, Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York and Roberts Funeral Home, 3 E. Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, New York.

Helen’s family would like to thank Susie and the Third Floor Nursing Staff at Nathan Littauer Hospital for all their care and compassion for her and the family during Helen’s final days.
