Genevieve "Gen" Z. Loadwick

Genevieve “Gen” Z. Loadwick, 82, of Dolgeville, New York and formerly of Fort Plain, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, May 15, 2020 at the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in St. Johnsville, New York.

She was born on March 4, 1938 in Rome, New York and was the daughter of the late, Burr and Zaida (Ashe) Metzler.  Gen was educated at Dolgeville Central School.

On June 29, 1970, Genevieve was united in marriage to John H. Loadwick, Jr. at the Universalist Church in Dolgeville, New York. The couple shared a union of 35 years.  During their years of marriage, the couple lived in the Philippines while Mr. Loadwick was stationed in Vietnam for his military service.  After his discharge, Gen and John moved to New Mexico for the better part of their lives.  They moved back to the Fort Plain area and then eventually to Dolgeville. Mr. Loadwick passed away on September 6, 2005.

In earlier years, Gen was employed at Daniel Green Shoe Company and then spent the majority of her life as a homemaker.  She had a strong faith in God and was a member of the Universalist Church in Dolgeville.  She also enjoyed watching television, shopping and was a well-known patron of Motor’s In Restaurant in Dolgeville.

She is survived by her siblings, Keith Metzler of Delmar, NY, Katherine Metzler Hutchinson of Amsterdam, NY, James Metzler and his wife, Arlene of Salisbury Center, NY, and Robert Metzler and his wife, Ann of New Brunswick, Canada; a sister in law, Betty Metzler of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Gen was predeceased by her brother, Richard Metzler and a sister in law, Jeanette Metzler.

A private graveside memorial service will take place in Fort Plain Cemetery, Fort Plain, New York.  The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home, 3 East Faville Avenue, Dolgeville, New York 13329, (315) 429-3144.
