Ernest L. Congdon

Ernest L. Congdon, 82, of the Town of Salisbury, New York, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday morning, May 12, 2021 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his loving and caring family.

He was born on July 13, 1938 in Fort Plain, New York and was the son of the late, Ernest and Mildred Congdon. Ernest attended Fort Plain Central School.

On June 15, 1956, Ernest was united in marriage to Janet M. Lamphere in the Town of Salisbury New York. The couple would have shared 65 year of marriage together this summer.

Ernest was formerly employed as a supervisor for Burrows Paper Mill in Little Falls, New York until his retirement in 2003 after 25 years of service.

Ernest was a faithful and devoted Christian and was a parishioner of Curtis Cornerstone Chapel. In his spare time, he enjoyed mowing his lawn, tinkering with various small engines and vehicles in his yard, sitting on his porch listening to music and attending church. His most precious time was spent in the company of his beloved children, foster children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ernest will be dearly missed by his family and community.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet M. Congdon at home; three sons, Rodney Congdon and his wife, Cheryl of the Town of Salisbury, NY, John Congdon and his wife, Mary of the Town of Salisbury, NY, and David Congdon of Dolgeville, NY; a daughter, Anna Bilger and her husband, Raymond of Salisbury Center, NY; five special grandchildren, Joshua Congdon, Melissa Congdon, Janet Bilger, Eric Congdon and Harley Congdon; ten cherished great-grandchildren, Ashley, Nichole, Alison, Brenna, Sophia, Tyler, Savanneh, Serenity, Mason and Colin; a brother, Ross Congdon of Oppenheim, NY; a sister, Beverly Rasbach of Foltsbrook Center, Herkimer, NY; several brothers and sisters in law, cousins and many foster children that Ernest and his wife, Janet considered their own and cared for throughout the years.

Ernest was predeceased by and infant grandson, Joshua Ryan Congdon.

In keeping with the wishes of Ernest, there will be no formal services. The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home and Miller-Plonka Funeral Home in Dolgeville, New York. (315) 429-7123.
