Ellen M. Barton, 95, of Salisbury Center, New York passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, January 15, 2022 at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Little Falls, New York where she had been a short-term patient. Ellen was cared for by her loving family in the comfort of her own home until recently.
She was born on November 8, 1926 in Little Falls, New York and was the daughter of the late, Floyd and Ella (Silvernail) VanSlyke. Ellen was educated in Dolgeville and graduated.
On June 24, 1943, Ellen was united in marriage to LeRoy A. Barton in Dolgeville, New York. The couple shared a union of nearly 59 years together, where they raised their fourteen children in a loving home. On February 28, 2002, Mr. Barton passed away.
Ellen was of the Universalist religion. She enjoyed sitting on her new front porch and watching her beautiful flowers. Ellen’s greatest treasure was her large family and spending time with those closest to her. A loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her family.
She is survived by her beloved children, Larry Barton of Salisbury, NY, Donna Miles and her companion, Gary Daley of Salisbury, NY, Sandra Congdon and her husband, Richard of Salisbury, NY, Gary Barton and his wife, Deb of Albany, NY, Kevin Barton and his wife, Tracy of Dolgeville, NY Eileen Paratore and her husband, Toni of Farmington, MO, Annette Humphrey and her husband, Paul of Little Falls, NY, Mary Barnes and her husband, Rick of Salisbury, NY and Jeff Barton and his wife, Brenda of Salisbury, NY; many loving grandchildren and many cherished great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Rose Barton of Montana; a sister, Linda Fletcher of the Foltsbrook Center, Herkimer, NY; and many extended family including nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ellen was predeceased by her husband LeRoy, and five beloved sons, David Barton, Ron Barton, Doug Barton, Keith Barton and Steven Barton.
In keeping with family wishes, there will be no immediate services. A graveside service will be held in the spring at Salisbury Rural Cemetery, Salisbury, New York. Arrangements are with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329.
