Earlene Louise Youker Obituary

Earlene Louise Youker, of the Town of Oppenheim, fell asleep in death at her home on Wednesday, August 14, 2024.    Earlene was born on September 16, 1944 in Oneida, New York to Earl and Edna (Larsen) Booth.

Earlene went to school at West Canada Valley.  It was here that she met the love of her live, William Henry Youker, Jr.  They married on December 10, 1960 at her mother’s residence in Oneida.  They shared 52 years together until William’s death in 2013.

Earlene was an avid reader who instilled that love in several of her children.  She especially enjoyed mysteries and true crime.  She also enjoyed true crime and home renovation television shows.

Earlene enjoyed writing.  She completed a writing correspondence course.  She had several articles that were published in travel magazines.  She also wrote an unpublished book.

Earlene also enjoyed photography and shared her pictures with family members.  Earlene enjoyed crocheting and knitting and made blankets for the Linus Project.

Earlene enjoyed taking rides anytime there was an opportunity.  In her later years, she and Bill enjoyed spending winters in Florida with her son Joel and his family.  She also enjoyed vacationing in Old Forge during the Fourth of July holiday with her son Russell and his family.  After Bill's death, she lived in Leesburg, Florida and Gainsboro, Tennessee prior to returning to New York. 

Earlene enjoyed cake decorating and took a class at HCCC.  For several years, she did that as a side job.

In addition to raising her children and several of her grandchildren, Earlene managed the Montgomery Wards store in Dolgeville. She also owned and operated a yarn store at the same location. Earlene worked in the food service area of K-Mart.  Later she prepared and sold food at the S & S Auctions business owned by her sons, Scott and Steven.

Earlene was baptized on February 14, 1960 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  She was a member of the Dolgeville Kingdom Hall.

Earlene was predeceased by her husband, William, her son, Steven James, her daughter-in-law, Diane, her parents and all of her siblings.  She leaves behind her children: Lori, Anita (Brian) Daly, Scott, Christine (Bert) Randall, Russell and Joel (Tina).  She also leaves her grandchildren: Scott, Joshua, Harley, Steven, Nicole, Russell, Casey, Jason, James, Jennifer, Joel, Zachary, Ashley, William, Travis, Samantha, Donavan, Angel, Mackenzie.  Her great grandchildren: Anthony, Kayden, Noah, Liam, Adrianna, Zoe, Jazmine, Atreyu, Sabbath, Ilyra, Carli, Tyler, Alexis, Kaydence, Andrew, Kevin, Meghan, Aeriel, Abigail, Isabella, Charlee, Riley, Nolan, Lily, Isabella, John Jr, Anthony, Leeman, Phoniex and Hunter.  There are three great-great-grand-children: Avery, Olivia and Freya.  She leaves behind her sister and brothers-in-law: Eleanor and Jack Wilhelm.  There are numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

There will be a graveside service at the Salisbury Rural Cemetery on Friday, August 16, 2024 at 10 AM.  There will be a memorial service at the Dolgeville Kingdom Hall located at 679 Brockett Road, Dolgeville on Saturday, August 17th at 3 pm.  Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects beginning at 2 pm.

Due to family allergies, please refrain from wearing perfumes or colognes and no smoking is allowed on the premises.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Dolgeville Kingdom Hall.
