Douglas G. Knapp, 71, of Oppenheim, New York, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, early Wednesday morning, June 28, 2023.
He was born on December 11, 1951 in Gloversville, New York and was the son of the late, Elmer and Martha (Scribner) Knapp. Doug was educated at Wheelerville School in Caroga Lake, New York.
On February 12, 2000, Doug was united in marriage to Pamela Briggs. They shared a union of 23 years together.
He was formerly employed by North Hudson Woodcraft in Dolgeville, New York as a supervisor for 19 years until an early retirement in 2005 due to an injury.
He was a member of the Sprite Club and enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Pamela (Briggs) Knapp at home; his children, William Knapp and his wife, Elaine of Stratford, NY, Melissa Snell and her husband, Christopher of Salisbury, NY and Stacey Parikh of MA; step-children, Clifford Chrisman and his companion, Bonnie Eckler of Salisbury, NY, Jessica LaGrange of Dolgeville, NY and Kyle LaGrange and his companion, Katy Tessier of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Hayleigh Knapp, Tristan Knapp, Katie Knapp, Shaun Knapp, Colin Snell, Ayden Snell, Madelynn Snell, Samuel Wood, Suriya Parikh, Madison Miller and Parker Miller; a sister, Linda Demers of Gloversville, NY; previous wife of 25 years, Gloria (Seeley) Hazzard of Stratford, NY; brothers and sisters-in-law of the Briggs Family and Rumrill Family; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents, a sister, Gale Case and a brother, Steve Knapp.
In keeping with Doug’s wishes, there will be no services. The family is being cared for by Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York.
