Donna L. Baum Obituary

Donna L. Baum, 73, of Dolgeville, New York passed away on Sunday evening, September 15, 2024 at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York with her comforting family by her side.

She was born on February 14, 1951 in Little Falls, New York and was the daughter of the late, Leland and Delores (Hall) Carpenter, Sr. Donna attended Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School. She was very proud to receive her GED in 1983.

On November 21, 1969, Donna was united in marriage to William R. Baum in Dolgeville, New York. The couple shared a blessed union of nearly 55 years where they raised their two children, Philip and Laurie, in a loving home.

Donna was a cherished homemaker for her husband and children. In younger years, she worked for Daniel Greens and she babysat for numerous area family’s children.

She loved decorating her house and yard for all the holidays, and enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She cherished many bears which adorned her home, many gifts from family. Donna enjoyed spending time with her family especially hosting family dinners. Her most precious time was caring for and watching her grandchildren grow up. Family was of the utmost importance to her. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, Donna will be deeply missed by those who loved her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William “Bill” R. Baum at home; her children, Philip Baum and his wife, Amy of Rome, NY and Laurie (Baum) Lovato and her husband, Mark of Dolgeville, NY; grandchildren, Nicole (Rick) Batara of Herkimer, NY, Allison Baum of Schuyler, NY, Matthew (Serena) Smith of Herkimer, NY, Samantha Clark and partner, Lou Groundwater of Albany, NY, Alexander Clark of Dolgeville, NY, Madison Baum of Rome, NY and Emily Baum of Rome, NY; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Judy Barnes of Dolgeville, NY, Patricia (Brian) Griffin of Dolgeville, NY and Sandra (Clark) Smith of Fort Plain, NY; a brother, Conrad (Charlene) Carpenter of St. Johnsville, NY; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Carol Baum of Dolgeville, NY; special cats, Abby Rose and Rusty B; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Donna was predeceased by a sister, Delores Perkov and two brothers, Leland Carpenter, Jr. and Frederick Carpenter.

The family will receive relatives and friends at calling hours on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at locally owned and family operated, Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York, Cremations and Funerals. A funeral service will be held immediately following the calling hours also at the funeral home. Procession will follow to Rural Park Cemetery where she will be laid to rest.
