Donald E. Miles, 72, of Lassellsville, New York, Town of Ephratah, passed away unexpectedly at his home early Sunday morning, on October 7, 2021.
He was born on March 29, 1949 in Gloversville, New York and was the son of the late, Walter and Thelma (Eckhart) Miles. Don was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and graduated with the Class of 1967. He then went on to attend SUNY Fredonia and then SUNY Oneonta where he received his Bachelors of Science Degree.
On August 5, 1978, Don was united in marriage to Kathryn Stowell at the Oppenheim United Methodist Church. The couple recently celebrated 43 years together.
Don was formerly a self-employed sales person for many years, retiring in 2005.
He was a member of the Moose Club and the Eagles Club, both of Johnstown, New York, the Sprite Club and the Mohawk Valley Alpiners. He also enjoyed civil war history and listening to live music.
Don is survived by his beloved wife, Kathryn S. Miles at home; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Wayne and Bonnie Stowell and Janet and Donald Cool, all of Oppenheim, NY; nieces and nephews, Terry (Martha) Cuffel of FL, Sherry (Tom) Diamond of FL, Trell Stowell of West Virginia, Terra (Jaqueline) Stowell of Charlton, NY, Ty (Brook) Stowell of Oppenheim, NY, and Melissa Cool-Horan (Crystal Stalnaker) of Oppenheim, NY; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Thelma Miles and his sister, Joan Barnes.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. (noon) at Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf Street, Dolgeville, New York 13329. Immediately following calling hours, a procession will follow to Rural Park Cemetery in Inghams Mills, New York where a graveside service will be held at approximately 12:45 p.m. with Rev. Dr. R.W. Williams., pastor officiating. All are welcome to attend.
