Diana L. Goff, 73, of Jerseyfield, Town of Salisbury, New York, passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning, February 4, 2025 in the comfort of her home.
She was born on October 2, 1951 in Nebraska and was the daughter of the late, Oliver "Eugene" and Bernice Barbara "Bonnie" (Davis) Peterson. Diana was educated at schools in Nebraska where she graduated from high school in 1969.
On September 21, 1972, Diana was joined in marriage with Richard P. Goff in California while he was stationed with the United States Marine Corps. They shared 44 years together when Richard passed away on November 4, 2016.
Upon Richard’s discharge from the Marine Corps, Diana and Richard moved to Toutle, Washinton where her parents owned and operated a gas station and small country store. Along with her husband, Diana took over her parent’s business which was located at the base of Mount Saint Helen. In 1980, the mountain erupted thus affecting their business. Richard and Diana sold the business and moved back to Richard’s roots in Salisbury, New York where they renovated and restored their family homestead.
Diana was employed as a certified nurse’s aide at Valley Health Services in Herkimer, New York for 25 years. She then went to work in the dialysis department at Bassett Healthcare in Herkimer, New York for an additional 15 years, retiring in 2013.
She enjoyed caring for her home, watching hummingbirds and making sure they were always fed, butterflies, dragon flies and her collection of all three. Diana loved touching anything soft. She enjoyed her coffee especially in the morning. A true animal lover, she would try to help any animal if possible. She also loved Facebook and interacting with family and friends all over. A true gentle and caring woman, Diana was a beloved companion, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.
Diana is survived by her beloved companion, Michael Roberts from Forestport, NY; her loving children, Laura Gilbert and her fiancé, John Rathbun of TN, Sandra Goff of Utica, NY, Alexandra Goff and her fiancé, Michael Baker of Salisbury, NY, and Collin Goff of Salisbury, NY; daughter-in-law, Irene Goff of London, KY; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a brother, Greg Peterson and his wife, Stacy of AZ; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of the Goff Family; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her son, Eugene Goff on January 18, 2025; 1 great-grandson; her parents, Eugene and Bonnie Peterson; a brother, Jerry Peterson; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Doris Goff.
