Dian E. (Youker) Crowley Obituary

Dian E. (Youker) Crowley, 91, of Dolgeville, NY passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024 at Little Falls Hospital in Little Falls, New York.

Dian was born in Dolgeville on March 10,1932 to Clarence J. and Catherine (Goodman) Youker. She was a lifelong Dolgeville resident and attended Dolgeville Central Schools graduating with the Class of 1950.

She was married to the late Timothy J. Crowley on July 10,1954 until his death on June 9, 1990. She worked in the cafeteria at Dolgeville Central Schools for over 25 years before her retirement.

Through the years, Dian devoted her life to her children spending time as a Girl Scout Leader, attending basketball games, welcoming the play of the neighborhood children on Timmerman Street, and supporting her children’s interests and hobbies. She belonged to the Catholic Women’s Club at St. Joseph Church. She was proud to be a life-long blood donor for those in need. Dian enjoyed weekly bowling, line dancing, and lunch with her friends. She liked being outdoors gardening, watching the birds, or soaking up the breeze under her back awning on a warm day. Dian traveled to Broadway shows and abroad to experience the world in China, Australia, and Ireland. She enjoyed making her house a home and used her creativity decorating for the holidays and seasons.

Dian was a loving grandmother whose home became a special place to visit, where memories were made, and traditions were created for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dian was genuinely kind-hearted and positive in life, always seeing the good in people and bringing happiness to everyone around her.

She is survived by her daughter, Bridget and her husband Peter Polansky of Oxford, MA; sons, Sean Crowley of Manlius, NY and Colin Crowley of Dolgeville, NY; her grandchildren, Debra Ricardi of MA; Alison Polansky  and fiancé, Thomas Travers of RI; Meg Mahaffy and her husband, Darren of VA;  Marijanel Knight and her husband, Steve of Canada; Daniel Leach and his wife, Cristina of DE; Timothy Crowley of AZ; Mariah Shields and her husband, Brandon of AZ; Edward Crowley and his partner Alyssa Crawford of PA; her great-grandchildren, Luca and Lia Ricardi; Taylor Travers; Luke, Paul, Mark, and Joel Mahaffy; Connor and Brooklyn Knight; Danielle, Stephanie, and Tyjae Leach; Soren Crowley.

Dian is predeceased by her husband, Timothy J. Crowley; her brother and sister-in-law William and Maxine Youker; brother and sister-in-law Zane and Deborah Youker; grandson-in-law Anthony Ricardi and many close friends and neighbors.
