Dennis W. Monk, 82, of Scotch Bush, Town of Ephratah, New York, passed away early Saturday morning, March 8, 2025 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in St. Johnsville, New York.
He was born on July 21, 1942 in Scotch Bush, Town of Ephratah, New York and was the son of the late, Milburn and Doris “Blanche” (Dinehart) Monk. Denny was educated at Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School and graduated with the Class of 1960.
Denny was formerly employed with the Fulton County Highway Department as a laborer and supervisor until his retirement.
In his spare time, Denny enjoyed fishing for striper on his fishing boat on the Hudson River and taking care of the family property of which he resided.
He is survived by one son, Brian Monk and his wife, Diane of North Carolina; long-time friend, Lynne Yuenger of Ephratah, NY and her family; a sister, Donna O’Rourke and her companion, Tom Hamilton of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; a brother, Jerome Monk of Tampa, FL; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Monk of Oppenheim, NY; nephews and nieces, Loring Brandow and his companion, Barb Knowles, whom cared for Denny the last three years at the family home, Larry Brandow and his wife, Crystal of Dolgeville, NY, Lance Brandow and his fiancée, Tonya Rachon, of Dolgeville, NY, Link Brandow and his wife, Tara of Stratford, NY, Nicholas M. Miller, III and his wife, Crystal, Noelle Miller and her husband, Robert Gridley, Nicole (Miller)Thompson , all of Dolgeville, NY, Sherrie Lawrence Purcell and her wife, Michelle Purcell of FL, Matthew O’Rourke and his companion, Samantha Pritchard, Jennifer Warner and her husband, Chad of Gloversville, NY, Sara Martyniuk of Salisbury, NY, Victoria Sylvester and her husband, Robert of Westmoreland, NY, Stephen Monk of Salisbury, NY and Jay Monk of Salisbury, NY; great-nieces, great-nephews and several cousins.
Denny is predeceased by his parents, brother, Ronald Monk and sister, Marcia (Monk) Miller.
There will be no services. He will have a private family burial at Fical Cemetery on Fical Road, Town of Ephratah, St. Johnsville, New York where he will be laid to rest with his parents and family.
