David M. Greif Obituary

Mr. David Monroe Greif, 79, of Dolgeville, New York, fell asleep in death early Wednesday morning, May 26, 2021 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born on April 15, 1942 in Little Falls, New York and was the son of the late, Martin and Esther (Wright) Greif. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School, Class of 1961.

On June 8, 1965, he married the love of his life Tomiko Kurokawa in Tokyo, Japan. Together they shared a union of nearly 56 years and raised 4 children in a loving home.

David served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965. He worked as an electronic technician for MDS in Herkimer and then for the US Postal Service in Utica until his retirement.

David was an active member of the Dolgeville Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He regularly volunteered his time to participate in teaching people bible truths. He was dedicated to teaching people the good news of God’s Kingdom knowing that this Kingdom will soon bring to an end to injustice, pain, suffering and death. This hope is what he shared with others and did so right up to his death.

He will be remembered for being a true audiophile enthusiast, for his love of cameras and photography and for his collection of watches and clocks. But he will be remembered best for the great love that he had for his family and his friends many of which are part of a worldwide brotherhood, and most of all his love for his God, Jehovah.

He was “Buchan” to Tomiko, “Dad” to Paula (Mark) Harlow, Timothy (Derinda) Greif, Miya (Peter) McGowan and David Greif. He was “Papa” to his Grands as he called them, Ashley (Jordan) Costello, Amanda (Kenan) Costello, Aaron (Sophie) Harlow, Elijah Greif, Jamin Greif, Lydia Greif and Michael Greif. He was also “Papa” to his Great Grands as he called them, Mason Costello, Brooke Costello and Axl Costello. He was brother to Robert Greif (deceased), brother-in-law to Norma Greif, uncle to Brenda, Paul and Karl and cousin to Dawn Staring.

There will be no calling hours however there will be a memorial talk given on Zoom and also phone tie in for all who would like to attend this occasion virtually on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at 3:00 pm.
