Dain F. Faville, 78, of Fairfield, New York, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, March 10, 2021 in the comfort of his home, with his loving wife and daughters by his side.
He was born on March 1, 1943 in Hagerstown, Maryland and was the son of the late, Dr. Rush and Dora (Dain) Faville. Dain attended Palo Alto High School and graduated with the Class of 1961. He then went on to Foothill College, Fulton-Montgomery Community College and lastly SUNY Oneonta where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Education, specializing in science. Dain also obtained 30 credit hours towards his Master's Degree.
On August 19, 1978, Dain was united in marriage to the former, Carol B. Johnson in Dolgeville, New York. The couple shared a blessed union of 42 years together where they raised their 5 daughters in a loving home.
Dain was formerly employed by the Herkimer County Probation Department as a probation officer. He held this position for over 20 years until his retirement in 2011. Prior to his employment with the county, Dain was a 4th and 6th grade teacher at Poland Central School for many years and Herkimer County Social Services for several years.
He was a 50+ year member of the Dolgeville Lodge #796 Free & Accepted Masons, a member of the Salisbury Grange, volunteer for the Herkimer Home Historical Site where he participated in the sap and sugaring off events, and a member of the Friends of Historical Central New York. Dain was a musical enthusiast and enjoyed singing with and being a member of the Shenanigans Singing Group for over 15 years, the West Canada Community Chorus, as well as having a role in the musical, Amahl and the Night Visitors. He also loved performing shows at the Salisbury Grange.
Dain was an accomplished horseman as well as a dog handler where he would show smooth haired collies. He enjoyed his life in the country and animals of all types. His most precious time was that spent in the company of his wife, daughters, and grandchildren whom he adored. Dain will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol B. Faville at home; five loving daughters, Margery Gardner and her husband, John of New Hartford, NY, Sarah Clay and her husband, Frederick of Cape May Courthouse, NJ, Jillian Faville of Johnstown, NY, Kimberly Faville-Wilson and her husband, Theo of Matata, New Zealand and Kelli Faville of St. Petersburg, FL; cherished grandchildren, Aven Gardner, Benjamin Gardner, Phoebe Gardner all of New Hartford, NY, Dezra Clay and Xander Clay of Cape May Courthouse, NJ; a brother, Rush Faville of Manson, WA; a sister, Adele Faville of Lincoln, CA; brothers and sisters in law, Marsha and Don Crist of Chippewa Bay, NY and Bill and Nancy Johnson of Ilion, NY; and several special nieces and nephews.
Dain was predeceased by his parents, Dr. Rush Faville and Dora Faville.
In keeping with family wishes, calling hours and funeral services will be private. A burial will take place in Dolgeville Cemetery where he will be laid to rest with his beloved parents. The family is being cared for by Roberts Funeral Home, 3 E. Faville Ave., Dolgeville, New York 13329.
