Carol E. (Carlson) Wesley, 82, of Dolgeville, New York passed away peacefully on Sunday evening, August 11, 2024, at Bassett Healthcare in Cooperstown, New York after a brief illness. At the time of her passing, she had the love and support of her husband and family by her side.
She was born on January 5, 1942, on Carlson Road in the Town of Manheim, New York and was the daughter of Gustave and Frances (Geer) Carlson. Carol attended Dolgeville Central School and graduated with the Class of 1960.
On September 26, 1964, Carol was united in marriage to Edward F. Wesley at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dolgeville, New York. The couple shared a blessed union of 60 years where they raised their three children in a loving home.
In earlier years, Carol was a private secretary for General Electric and LMED in Utica, New York. She was fortunate enough to be able to devote the remainder of her life as a homemaker for her husband and family.
She was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church. Her most precious time was spent in the company of her husband, children, grandchildren and family who will miss her deeply.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband, Edward F. Wesley at home; her loving children and their spouses, Christopher and Susan Wesley of Media, PA, Beth and Dr. Carmine Volpe of Newtown Square, PA, and Joseph and Cecilia Wesley of Oppenheim, NY; her cherished grandchildren, Mika, Serena, Benjamin, Matias and Ana; her sisters, Vivian Atutis of Little Falls, NY, Lillian Boyer, Irene Tooly, and Barbara Grimmer and her husband, Jack all of Dolgeville, NY; two sisters-in-law, Jane Carlson of New Hartford, NY and Marie Kiesel; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Julia Wesley; brothers, Gus Carlson and his wife, Helen and Carl Carlson; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Francis Atutis, Joe Boyer, Clark Tooly and Robert and Frances Wesley.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 31 North Helmer Avenue, Dolgeville, New York 13329 with Father Brian K. Slezak, pastor, officiating. Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery immediately following the Mass. There will be no calling hours.
